Kalamkari is a traditional art form that took root in India in the temple town of Srikalahasthi in Andhra Pradesh centuries ago. Kalamkari is derived from the words “kalam” meaning pen and “kari “meaning work. The art of kalamkari is painted using combinations of plant materials as natural vegetable dyes on fabric. Because each kalamkari cloth is hand-painted, each piece of art has a special personal touch and is completely unique.”
